Career Synthesis & Impact Narrative
Enkhuun Byambadorj is a prize-winning socioecological justice advocate. Witnessing her loved ones suffer from air pollution, she co-founded and is the Executive Director of Breathe Mongolia, a nonprofit working to transform policies, narratives, and sectors to clean our air and protect the climate.
In the past two years alone, her team reached more than 252,000 people through advocacy campaigns, trained more than 600 youth in environmental action, and reached 1,100 people through climate and clean air workshops. Her latest project aims to build an intersectional narrative of environmental justice in non-hegemonic languages, starting with Mongolian, with the aim of institutionalizing the concept’s recognition in national and multilateral legislation.
Enkhuun advocates for the rights of future generations and a just transition in multilateral fora, including serving as a climate negotiator at the past three UNFCCC COPs. Enkhuun also serves as the youngest member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Clean Air, a time-bound interdisciplinary think tank, where she co-leads an initiative to create a youth clean air movement in 50 cities around the world.
Through her work, Enkhuun aims to equip communities with the resources to make the right to a clean, healthy, safe, and sustainable environment a reality and to transform the systems that prevent its realization. Enkhuun is an Iris Prize Winner, winner of the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG3, and a Vital Voices Global Fellow.
Her work has been featured on The Diplomat, BBC, Bloomberg Mongolia, The Globe and Mail, AFP, The Guardian, and other local media.
